Maybe I’m sucker for cheesy 80’s movies. Maybe I’m biased because one of these girls was a member of The Runaways. Maybe I just think Suzanna Hoffs is kinda cute. Or maybe…these girls actually rocked this cover song like the bosses they are. Yeah, that’s more like it. Say what you want about The Bangles, but these girls earned their place as “Women Who Rock”.
When The Bangles were asked to record a song for the “Less Than Zero” soundtrack, they chose to record their version of this song. After butting heads for a bit, they finally took full creative control of the song by adding an edgier guitar riff and produced this version for the movie.
Originally written and performed by the singer/ songwriter team Simon & Garfunkle, The Bangles upstaged them with their cover version. Their version reached number 2 on the charts while Simon & Garfunkle peaked at number 13.
